Washburn Rural Boy’s Varsity was dominant on Friday (01/09/26), with a guaranteed 1st place at Seaman High School, including a big win over the #1 5A/#3 All Class team, Basehor Linwood. The Blues went 5-0, winning all duals by 20+ points.
The team also had four undefeated wrestlers for the entire event:

Brodye Kocher-Munoz (150) – Junior
Landen Kocher-Munoz (144) – Senior
Ryder Harrison (120) – Senior

- Match 1, Round 1: WRHS defeated Pittsburg 58-23
- Match 2, Round 2: WRHS defeated Salina-Central 53-21
- Match 3, Round 3: WRHS defeated Hays High 50-27
- Match 4, Round 4: WRHS defeated Seaman 56-23
- Match 5, Round 5: WRHS defeated Basehor Linwood 44-24
Tonight (01/16/26), the boys will head to Newton High School where they will battle 33 other teams in a two-day tournament. Anticipation for the team is high coming off of last week’s big victory, and the Jr. Blues are sure to keep the momentum going this week, too.
With the season in full swing, and KSHSAA Wrestling State looming, the guys are charging full throttle towards every matchup.
Once the Newton tournament is complete, they will begin to focus on the upcoming events below:
