The Washburn Rural boys wrestling team ended their season on a great note with the help of Coach Hogan and Coach Torres, who helped guide the program to another podium finish at the state level. They were able to claim a third-place team finish in 6A, which shows the depth across the lineup and the consistent preparation done by both the team and the coaches. Washburn had seven of their wrestlers place at state: Andrew Peterson – 2nd place (113), Ryder Harrison – 2nd place (120), Cooper Stivers – 2nd place (138), Brodye Kocher-Munoz – 3rd place (150), Hayden Broxterman – 5th place (106), Kaiden Marshall – 5th place (285), and Brenner Beninga – 6th place (175). The Washburn Rural wrestling team also brought home two state titles, with senior Landen Kocher-Munoz ending his high school career with his third consecutive state championship at 144 pounds, demonstrating sustained excellence over three years, along with junior Jaydn Baum, who won his first state title this year at 215 pounds.
