Washburn Rural Drivers Ed

Washburn Rural Drivers Ed

Attention all new drivers and parents!

Washburn Rural offers a Drivers Ed course over the summer for students who are 14 years of age or older.

The 2024 summer session is full, but enrollment for summer 2025 will take place next March.

The course fee offered by the highschool is $225.00.

The student taking the course will take a 2 hour class everyday for 12 consecutive days.

During the 12 days, every other day the student will drive for 1 hour, switching with his/her partner who will then drive another hour.

Washburn requires all new drivers to take the written handbook test, which upon passing, will allow the student to obtain their permit in order to legally drive on the streets.

If a student unsuccessfully completes the test four times, he/she must wait 6 months before taking the test again

In the state of Kansas, the learners permit is required for 12 months before moving to a restricted license.

A restricted license then allows the occupant to drive to and from work/school.
