After a strong performance in the opening round of Sub-State playoffs, the Varsity girls will face a tough challenge in the second round as they travel to Derby High School tomorrow evening (March 6). Tip off is set for 6 PM.
The Panthers enter the matchup with an impressive 21-3 record, making them one of the strongest teams in the bracket. The Lady Blues, currently 16-7-1, will need to bring their energy, teamwork, and determination to compete against the talented Derby Squad.
But the Blues have proven all season that they are capable of rising to big moments. With strong leadership, consistent effort, and a never-quit mentality, the team has battled through a competitive schedule to earn their place in the Sub-State tournament.
Games like this are what postseason is all about – two determined teams competing with everything on the line. While Derby may have the record advantage, the Lady Blues have proven time and time again that they are ready to fight for every possession.
Support from the student section could make a big difference. A strong crowd can bring energy to the court and show the team that the Washburn Rural community stands behind them as they continue in their playoff run.
Students, families, and fans are encouraged to make the trip to Derby High School Friday night and cheer on the Lady Blues as they fight to keep their season alive.
Win or lose, the Lady Blues have already shown heart… and they’re not done yet.
