Wednesday night (02/04/26), the district’s #3 team, Washburn Rural High School, played at home against the #5 Blue Valley High School Tigers in multiple grueling matchups, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats all evening.
Starting off the night with a bang, the 9th grade boys beat BVHS 65-42. Keeping the stamina going, the JV girls took a strong point lead, paving their way to a victorious 55-42 win over the Tigers. The JV boys battled it out in a suspense-packed game, ultimately winning by just one point over BVHS, finishing 52-51.
By 6 p.m., the student section was anxious with excitement as the Varsity Blues were gearing up for one of their most toughest projected games yet. The Lady Blues kept a sufficient lead over the Tigers throughout the game, battling towards a win of 55-42. As the clean sweep was rounding out, the Boys Varsity team gave everything they had to conquer Blue Valley, coming up just short in the 4th quarter, finishing 54-55.
Tonight (02/06/26), the Junior Blues will play at Topeka High School as they take on the Trojans, who are currently fourth in the district.
Girls will play at 6 PM and boys will play at 7:30 PM.
