WRHS seniors continue in college

Madison Lemke, Alassandra Weakland, and Lily Jeffries put it on paper January 30, signing to continue sports in college.

Lemke, a high school varsity basketball player and varsity goalie for the Junior Blues, committed to Kansas State University to pursue women’s rowing while studying biology.

Lemke explained, “It’s a really good opportunity for me to build another community outside the biology program. It will challenge me to be my best self every day to get myself better and to help the team.”

Alassandra Weakland, playing as center back for the varsity girls’ soccer team, also made the commitment to Kansas State to pursue criminology while also competing for the women’s rowing team with Lemke. Weakland explained, “College level means pushing my limits and proving that working hard and dedication pays off in the end.”

Lily Jeffries, who bowls for the Junior Blues and is a longtime softball player, signed to continue her athletic and academic career in secondary education and for the women’s softball team at Coffeyville Community College. Jeffries stated, “It’s been my goal to reach college-level softball since before middle school. So being able to achieve that goal and play for a college means everything to me.”

These ladies have truly shown what it is like to put in the work and proved that you can accomplish anything as long as you put your mind to it. Congratulations and good luck!
