Girls Basketball wins on Formal Night

Friday, February 3, the Washburn Rural varsity girls basketball team moved to 11-3 on the season with a 45-39 overtime victory over Emporia.

The Jr. Blues were led by senior center Brooklyn Deleye who scored 18 points. Sophomore guards Kate Hinck and Tenly Bunck came through in the clutch, scoring all 6 points in overtime.

The Jr. Blues defense stymied the Spartan offense in overtime, not allowing a single point during the extra five minutes. Washburn Rural goes up against Junction City on Tuesday, February 7.
