On Saturday, October 25, the marching band attended the Neewollah Festival, which was the last competition of the season.
The festival took place in Independence, KS, which is two hours away from Topeka. The event lasted all day. In the morning, they marched in a parade, and in the afternoon, they performed their show, “The Show Must Go On”. Due to the rain, the bands performed inside of the local high school’s gym. Washburn Rural swept the competition, taking second place overall. They earned outstanding color guard, outstanding percussion, outstanding drum major, people’s choice award, and the best of their class award. This was their final competition of the marching band season, and now the concert band season will start shortly.
