As February roles around, so does the annual Keva Plank competition in the Washburn Rural library. Every February for the past four years the library has hosted a Keva Plank competition.
They were gifted the planks from the district foundation back in 2021. Librarian Mrs. Finny got the idea from the Children’s Discovery Center and brought it to the high school. The competition requires players in a group of two to four people to utilize Keva planks and build the tallest tower. They get a 15 minute time frame to build as high as they can.
Some of the highest builds range in different groups. The tallest sophomore tower measures at 7 ‘9’’, juniors at 6 ‘6.5’’, and seniors at 8 feet tall. The tallest staff tower reached 10’1’’ and the tallest student tower is currently held at 11’10’’.
