Lately, Washburn Rural’s Boys Swim team has competed at local meets, scoring well in both.

The head coach, Bob Burdick originally focused on coaching the girls swim team, but took over the coaching spot for boys this winter, which led his team of boys in securing a third place finish at the Topeka West Invitational on Wednesday.

Pictured above, senior Luke Lemke placed 2nd overall in the 200-yard individual medley, with a time of 2 minutes, 10.90 seconds. Lemke also placed 2nd in the 100 backstroke, with a time of 58.98.

At the Hayden Meet, the Washburn Rural boys took first place by scoring over 120 points after second.

Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches!
