The Lady Blues were playing Wichita South on (Saturday January 27) after dominating on Thursday and Friday night. This game was for the championship of the tournament. This was not gonna be an easy game and it was gonna show who was ready. Hopefully being the home team will help. The game started off with great defense from both sides and the first points didn’t come until 5 minutes remaining in the first quarter. The first point was from number 5 Maddie Virkery (freshman Center) and it was a layup. This game was neck and neck going into the second quarter with the score being 2-5. The second quarter was different from the first. The game picked up and the offense got to work and by the end of the second quarter the score was 14-19. Coming out of halftime the Wichita South Ladies we’re gonna put on a fight for the lady blues and which they did. After the third quarter the score was 28-22 and we had scored only 3 points that quarter. The fourth was the last quarter to crown the winner and the lady Blues weren’t going down without a fight. With the Blues down by 2 points number 5 Maddie Virkey shot a three pointer from the corner to put them ahead by one. With only a minute left it was tied 37-37 and both teams were not gonna give up a score which led to overtime. It was a battle in overtime and Wichita won that fight with 44-38 being the final score.
