We talked to one of the captains, Campbell Bagshaw, on our WRHS girls softball team and asked her a couple of questions to get to know about her experience and future for softball.

  1. Which softball season has been your favorite in your high school career? My Freshman year was my most favorite because we were able to make it to the state championship game and play against great competition.

  2. What extra responsibilities come with being a captain? It is an honor to be seen as a senior captain by all of your teammates, but it does come with a few responsibilities. The main thing is that you need to always be a great role model and set a good example for your underclassman teammates. Being positive is essential because the way you carry yourself is seen by others and it is contagious.

  3. Did you always know you wanted to play at KU? When I started my recruiting process I had no idea where I wanted to go, but KU had always been a dream of mine. Getting the opportunity to play there is so exciting.

  4. What do you plan on majoring in at Kansas University? I plan on majoring in Business Marketing.

  5. What are you most excited about for college? I am most excited to meet new people and get to know my teammates. I am also excited to continue playing softball.

  6. What is one of your favorite memories from high school softball? I think my favorite memory from all four years would be our game last year against Free State. We had lost to them in the state championship a few years back and it was a great feeling to beat such a great team with my girls.

  7. What challenges have you overcome in softball? Over the summer I was in a pretty big hitting slump, and because softball is such a mental sport, overcoming this was not very easy. Pushing through that just made my mental game that much stronger and gave me the confidence I needed.
