On January 18, 2022 the Washburn Rural Bowling team traveled to Gage Bowl and won the meet. The team finished with a score of 2,789 pins.

That is 72 pins off the school record which was set before any of the current bowlers were even in middle school.

“It was exciting,” Junior Reece Godby said.

Junior Walker Thompson was in his first varsity bowling meet and finished with a plus 600 score. When asked how he felt doing so well in his first varsity meet he replied, “Well, I was a little nervous at first, but once I started throwing it all went away.”

The big winner of the meet was senior Mathew Harter who bowled a 682. When asked how he got into the rhythm to win the meet, his response was, “I found the right ball to use and figured out my shot.”

The Junior Blues have been great this season and have even scored a 2852 which is nine pins off the record.

There is no doubt the team could break the record but right now they are focused on winning league, which starts, Wednesday, February 16.
