Washburn Rural men’s varsity golf looks to tee off the season strong, Monday at Mission Hills Country Club, just outside of Kansas City.
The Jr. Blues are coming off a solid 2024 season, where they won the Topeka City tournament, a runner-up finish in the Centennial League, and 2nd place finish at regionals, earning a spot in the 6A State Tournament. This year the Jr. Blues are lead by seniors; Tadd Armstrong and Tagan Monasmith. Seniors; Brady Goeden and Xoaquin Overbey will also play a big role in this team’s success. As well with three juniors; Peyton Goehring, Higgins Hawks, and Michael Wilson.
Tagan Monasmith says, “this year we are looking to have a better year, and finish. The main thing is to compete with big-time competition. With league rivals, Manhattan, and schools out east. We know we have the talent for great success, we just have to have everyone bought in.” Tadd Armstrong also added, “we don’t take for granted playing for a program like WR golf, we have a great and rich tradition. This team is trying to add to the success and compete.
The Jr. Blues will head to Mission Hills C.C., Monday for the Shawnee Mission East Invitational. April 10th they will host the WR Invitational at Wamego C.C. Where they finished 2nd last year.
