Student Spotlight; Faye Chandler

Hadlie Brady and Mia Taggart

For this weeks student spotlight we are focusing on our members in the Black Student Union and asked Junior Faye Chandler some questions on Black History Month and what they have planned.

  • Do you guys have any special events coming up this month?
    • “Were doing a spirit week for the school. We did it last year but not that many people knew about it. We are going to an Ebony Ball at Highland Park. Wednesday we are going to brown v board of education.”
  • Are you guys very active with your club and if so what do you do?
    • “Yes I am active. We discuss black history, current problems, and make a community for people to talk about problems they have been facing.”
  • What has been your favorite trip with the club so far?
    • “I would say the K-State Symposium we went to was the most fun and enjoyable trip we’ve gone on.”
  • Can you describe this years black history month theme?
    • This year’s theme for black history month is “Black Resistance”. This means how African Americans have resisted historic and ongoing oppression, in all forms.”
