Washburn Rural Basketball Comes Out Firing After Winter Break

On Jan. 3 the Washburn Rural boys and girls basketball teams defeated Junction City at Washburn Rural High School. Jack Bachelor propelled the Boys team, coached by Alex Hutchins, scoring 21 points in a 64-58 shootout.

The girls, coached by Kevin Bordewick, dominated the Blue Jays from beginning to end. The halftime score was 30-5 and the girls’ defense continued to prove effective allowing only 9 points the entire game. They won with a final score of 50-9.

This season the boys have a record of 4-2 and the girls have a record of 5-1. Both teams will be competing on Friday, Jan. 6 against Hayden High School at their house.
