Student Spotlight; Meredith Kucera

Hadlie Brady and Mia Taggart

For this week’s Student Spotlight we have decided to focus on our girls’ fall sports. For Tennis we have chosen to interview player Meredith Kucera.

  • What has been your favorite part about being on the Washburn Rural Tennis team?
    • I’ve loved being able to go out and play everyday and being with my best friends for four years. I’ve had such a good time playing for this team.”
  • Who do you think will be your team’s biggest obstacle this year?
    • There’s a lot of good players in Topeka, so if we can be solid throughout our top six I think we’ll be alright. The Kansas City/ Blue Valley schools are always tough at state though.”
  • How would you describe your motivation for 2022’s season?
    • I want to make the most out of my last season. I want to have as much fun with my team as I can and do my best at state with my partner.”
  • Looking back on your past Tennis seasons, what has been one of your favorite memories from school tennis?
    • Van rides up with the team are always the best. Someone’s always singing, someone’s always talking, everyone’s always having a good time.”
  • Do you have any further plans for your career in tennis?
    • I love tennis and want to keep playing casually, but I probably won’t go play anywhere for college.”
