On Wednesday, March 23 the USD 437 Board of Education unanimously approved the calling of the bond election.

What’s in the Bond Issue? For starters, a second middle school will be built in order to provide more opportunities for each individual student at the middle school level. When completed elementary schools will hold grade levels PreK-5th grade and the two middle schools will hold 6-8th grades.

If passed, the bond will also allow the Auburn-Washburn district to expand its early childhood education program from 200 to 400. The bond also plans to add more space and capacity upgrades at the elementary level. The extra space from what was sixth grade classrooms will now be used as space for meeting and collaboration spaces.

Plans are also in the works for expanding the high school’s Career and Technical Education center, allowing more high school students to make an immediate impact in the workforce right out of high school.

The bond also has a second question o the ballot which will be the addition of a pool to the high school. The pool will be added for the WRHS swim teams, P.E. classes and local community use.
