Halloween is The Best Holiday

Bri Wilson, Writer

Halloween is by far the best holiday to ever exist. There are many great days of celebration, such as National Hot Dog Day, National Dog Day, and National Noodle Day. Nonetheless, none of these days compare to the national holiday of Halloween. This day has long been cursed by some families as the day of the devil or the day where evil resides. However, this day deserves much more respect than that. It brings communities together to maximize the positive experience of the children, allowing them to see friendly neighbors and enjoy precious candies. This distinguished holiday brings families together through the bonding of cute costumes, both of their own children and those who come to their doors. It allows children and adults alike to be something other than themselves, something they’ve always wanted to be or be exposed to, for one single night a year. Many kids dress up as something that they want to be later in life or something that has influenced them positively. Doctors, superheroes, and princesses are common costumes that are seen wandering throughout the night. Sometimes children dress up in scary costumes in an effort to frighten their peers. This is not a negative experience, instead giving experiences to both sides of the scare, enacting and training their fear response motors. Children decide what is dangerous and what is not, allowing a greater ability to distinguish what is true and good and what is false and evil. It gives teenagers an opportunity to go out, meet new people, learn about their friends, and have new experiences. Adults often host their own hordes of parties, rekindling old friendships and spending time with family. Halloween is beneficial in all ways, regardless of the stigma behind the day and its origin. It offers opportunities and positive experiences for the young and old alike.
