Even though basketball season isn’t for a couple months, the Junior Blues basketball team is hard at work already starting their preseason conditioning. Coach Hutchins talks about the reasons and benefits of preseason conditioning. ”We have preseason conditioning to try to help our players who are not in a fall sport get their bodies acclimated and ready for the season. The main goal is to help prevent injuries early in the season,” he said.
Benefits of preseason conditioning are not only physical but it also gives the team an opportunity to build team chemistry and trust. Coach Hutchins said, “Yes, I think the preseason conditioning helps prepare the team physically. Beyond avoiding injuries, it also helps establish a baseline level of conditioning that allows us to focus more on skill development early in the season. I do think it helps with team chemistry to an extent. I think the guys that are at conditioning build relationships and trust.”
