The juniors and seniors have a great opportunity to attend a College Night on September 17 at 5:30 p.m. You will get to visit college representatives from various schools, from smaller colleges to bigger colleges. There are 21 colleges coming, so people have the chance to talk and get information from each college.
Another thing that will happen that night is a counselor presentation in the auditorium. In the presentation, you will learn about post-secondary and career planning, testing, Kansas Regent Scholarships for ACT scores, learn about college tours, junior information for the upcoming years, senior pre-college checklist, how to apply to colleges, scholarships, and ways to earn credit.
The last thing that you will learn is about FAFSA. FAFSA determines the Student Aid Index (SAI) and awards grants and loans. To apply for FAFSA, you will need an ID, and the application opens in December. Washburn University will be providing support sessions to Shawnee County families.
The order of the night will go like this: 5:30 p.m. visit with college representatives outside auditorium, at 6:00 p.m., the counselor presentation will happen, and following the counselor presentation at 6:30 p.m., the FAFSA presentation from KU in the auditorium will happen, or you can visit with more college representatives.
