Washburn Rural’s students will be partying Rio-style with bright lights, bold colors, and vibrant beats. Homecoming this year will be held in the Innovation Center on October 4, 2026.
The week of the dance will be packed with spirit days, building excitement with themed days, called spirit week leading up to the big game and dance. The clubs, sports teams, and student groups at the school are also creating themed floats that bring the energy of Rio to life for the Homecoming parade.
Throughout the week, Homecoming court nominees will be announced, representing a different groups that nominated one of their seniors across the school, from athletics and performing arts to academic clubs and leadership organizations to run for queen and king. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime at the football game on Friday night, a highlight of the week’s events.
The celebration wraps up with the Homecoming dance held in the school’s Innovation Center, to match the Rio theme with tropical decorations, vibrant music, and colorful lighting. It’s set to be a fun and memorable night for students to dance, connect, and celebrate the foundation of Washburn Rural.
