As the school year starts up again so do NHS meetings! NHS is the National Honor Society and they held their first meeting on August 27th for the 2025-2026 chapter! NHS is a U.S high school organization that recognizes four pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
To gain memberships students must meet certain requirements, some of them being maintaining a certain gpa, following bylaws, logging service hours and attending meetings and training. NHS members also help run service projects around the school they help with tutoring, fundraisers, blood drives and even campus cleanups. One service project they did last year was a book drive where all books were donated to the Topeka Public Library as a way to provide everyone access to education.
Some benefits of being a part of NHS is you can create leadership skills and create a positive impact on the school and our community. Students can also receive cords and recognition at graduation along with access to NHS scholarships.
