The WRHS football team is kicking off their season with the jamboree scrimmage on Aug. 29 in Louisburg, starting at 7 p.m. The team has been practicing since early August and is excited to kick off the season against their opponents; Loiusburg, Fort Scott and Frontenac.
A jamboree is a great way to prepare for the upcoming regular season. It’s a preseason event where teams participate in a series of short scrimmage-style games to connect better on the field as a team. Coaches are allowed to be on the field to provide instructions and to rotate players on and off the field.
The jamboree not only marks the beginning of the season, but it also gives players and coaches a chance to grow together before the first official game. With the experience gained and teamwork built, the team is ready to take on the season ahead. The first official season game is on Sept. 5 at Shawnee Heights starting at 7 p.m.
