This summer, the WRHS girls’ wrestling team is opening the doors to newcomers and returning athletes with many training lessons designed to build strength, technique, and team spirit. Starting Monday, June 2, students can attend open mat practices from 8:30 to 9:20 am, followed by strength and conditioning from 9:30 to 10:30 am, every Monday through Thursday.
These sessions are open to all students regardless of experience level, and are led by Coach Parker, who is known for creating a high energy and supportive environment. Whether you’re a returning wrestler or brand new to the sport, summer training is a great way to build skills, strengthen, and stay connected with classmates.
Also, from June 9 to June 12, Coach Parker and the team are hosting a free beginner wrestling camp. New wrestlers will learn everything from the basics to how to condition like a professional.
For even more training, students can attend Lawrence Elite, a free evening program by Mr. Fincher in Lawrence. Practices are Monday through Thursday from 6:30-8:30 pm, and all you need is a USA wrestling card. Lawrence Elite also offers free camps throughout the year.
