Abigail Buckhalter has officially been named the new Student Council President for the 2025–2026 school year. After being involved in StuCo since 8th grade, Abigail said she knew she wanted to take on a leadership role during her final year of high school.
“I have been involved in StuCo since my 8th grade year, and it has been a big part of my life,” Abigail shared. “It has allowed me to make so many new friends, and for my senior year I thought it would be fun to run for executive council! I’m so excited for next year and all the things we will accomplish.”
As president, Abigail has set three main goals: to strengthen the StuCo community, to increase volunteer efforts both in school and around the community, and to host more school-wide events.
“While our StuCo community is already very strong, I want to make it a welcoming place where all students feel like they are contributing,” she said. “We do lots of things for our school, but I also want to make sure we are helping our community by volunteering just as much! And lastly, I want to try and host more StuCo events for the school. These could be fundraisers or just events to bring the school together.”
Abigail said she feels confident in her goals thanks to the people around her. “We have a great executive council for this upcoming year that will be able to help with all of these goals. Our StuCo members are always willing to help through sharing ideas and volunteering, and that is crucial to reach these goals.”
One of her hopes for the year is to introduce more team-building activities for StuCo members. “We do so many things for our school and community, but sometimes we lack in events that build our community! In addition to our annual Christmas party, I hope to introduce more events for us to connect.”
Joining Abigail in leading StuCo this year is co-president Meredith Clark. Together, the two are looking forward to a busy and impactful year.
When asked what kind of legacy she hopes to leave behind, Abigail shared: “I hope to have a legacy of building StuCo to be a very positive and connected space. I hope to make this a group that is excited to get together and decorate for dances, or plan spirit weeks. I want StuCo to be more than just a school organization, but also a community.
