On May 8, the Orchestra Awards Concert showcased the incredible talent and dedication of our school’s three orchestra classes: Concert Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra. Each group performed a selection of pieces. A standout moment is when a Chamber orchestra cellist, Finley Guccioni, stepped away from her cello during the Chamber performance to play the piano during How Does a Moment Last Forever from Beauty and the Beast. The orchestra closed the night with an exciting Pirates of the Caribbean piece, in collaboration with the band. Band members, like Will Boyd, contributed to every ensemble, with Will bringing rhythms on the drums throughout the night.
The award portion of the night celebrated the hard work and musical growth of students across the three orchestras. Each class voted for three categories: Outstanding Low String, Outstanding High String, and Outstanding Overall Player, and the conductor, Mr. Kuder, chose a special recognition. The heartfelt speeches and applause highlighted the supportive and passionate community within the orchestra program. The concert was a celebration of the music performed and everyone who performed it.
