Excitement is an understatement; the popular fast-food chain known for its chicken fingers announces plans to open its first location in Topeka. It is also known for its simple menu and signature Cane’s sauce.
Raising Cane’s was founded in 1996 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by Todd Graves and Craig Silvey. What started as a college business plan turned into a booming national brand focused on one thing, quality chicken fingers. The first restaurant opened near the LSU campus, and the chain has since expanded to hundreds of locations across the United States and beyond.
It began in Louisiana, which has developed a loyal following across the country, and now the people of Topeka will get to experience it for themselves. The new location is set to open later this year, bringing what could be their favorite chicken fingers to their very own hometown. Construction has already begun, replacing the former restaurant, Steak and Shake, that closed back in early 2024. This restaurant has been a known favorite, but Topekans have also had to drive either to Lawrence, KS, or Kansas City. Many residents are looking forward to having a new dining option that’s fast, fresh, and flavorful. Local foodies and Canes fans are already buzzing and talking about the prospect on social media, with many saying they will be first in line on opening day.
With Raising Canes coming into Topeka with its first restaurant, it’s not just adding to the city’s food scene, but it’s also bringing new jobs and community investment. It’s a win-win for Topeka and also chicken lovers everywhere.
