The Job Olympics, a competition which is designed to increase transition and employability skills for high school students in special education, brought together over 500 students from 40 schools. This year, the Washburn Rural team went to Johnson County Community College to compete alongside 27 schools in a variety of job-related challenges.
Our students recieved impressive results, and won 5 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 4 bronze medals, a 4th place ribbon, two 5th place ribbons, and 8th and 9th place ribbons. For the second consecutive year, the team earned the 2nd place trophy in the post-school category.
The competition, which is judged by community business professionals and educators, gives students an opportunity to demonstrate and improve real-world skills, from job readiness to teamwork. Congratulations to Ms. Kester-Niehaus and all of the competitors for their outstanding efforts and remarkable achievements.
