Washburn Rural High School wrestling teams finished their seasons with a final tournament at the KSHSAA State Wrestling Tournament, held on March 1-2, 2025, at AdventHealth Sports Park. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams finished third overall, marking a successful conclusion to their seasons.
Senior Easton Broxterman made history by completing his third consecutive state title in the 144-pound weight class. Also, senior Kristjan Marshall and junior Landen Kocher-Munoz each earned their second individual state championships in the 157-pound and 138-pound divisions, respectively.
Other impressive individual performances from the boys’ team included Cooper Stivers (132 lbs) and Jadyn Baum (190 lbs), who both finished in third place, and Brodye Kocher-Munoz (150 lbs) and Kaiden Marshall (215 lbs), who each placed fourth. Ryder Harrison (120 lbs) rounded out the boys’ team with a sixth-place finish.
The girls’ team also competed, with Molly Spader earning runner-up honors at 105 lbs. Emmerson Blanco (140 lbs) and Elia Smith (170 lbs) both placed third, while Maddy Blow (115 lbs), Lacey Middleton (120 lbs), Madison Blanco (135 lbs), and Ashley Schwarz (155 lbs) each finished in fourth. Justice McBurney (235 lbs) earned a sixth-place finish.
