Tonight, Washburn Rural will travel to Manhattan High School and face the Manhattan Indians. The Jr. Blues dominated the Indians in the first matchup, winning 74-45.
John Hoytal led the team in scoring with 18 points. Amare Jones and Simon Rowley also had 14 points. Rural is coming into the game at 15-4 and 9-0 in Centennial League play. Rural has already clinched the Centennial League title.
If they were to win tonight, they would either receive the 3 seed or 4 seed for the sub-state playoffs. It is Manhattan’s senior night, so the arena will be jumping for a big-time atmosphere. The Jr. Blues shot the ball well in the previous matchup, shooting 55% from the field. They also shot 40% from 3-point land! On the other hand, Manhattan is coming off a tough loss to Emporia this past Tuesday, losing 65-66 in a 1-point thriller. The Indians come in at 6-14 and 3-6 in league play. Not the season they have wanted to have, but they could turn it around Friday night against their conference rival, Washburn Rural.
