On May 8, 2024, at 7:00 Pm, the WRHS Orchestra program had their last concert of the school year.
The concert, symphony, and chamber orchestras are all performing two to three pieces. Chamber orchestra will be playing last, performing their last song with WRHS band members. This piece is called “The Planets” by Gustav Holst. Senior, Megan Weis, will also be performing a concerto with the chamber orchestra.
Not only are these groups performing, but the quartets that scored a one at regionals and state performed their pieces for the audience. This included a cello quartet and a freshman quartet. Along with this, Nottingham recognized each student in these quartets individually with all of their accomplishments made this year.
This concert showcases seniors and their accomplishments. In between the songs during the chamber orchestra’s performance, the director, Miss Nottingham, shared a little about the seniors. All of the seniors walked across the stage, received a flower, and Nottingham told the audience about their future plans and favorite memories from the orchestra.
After this, the awards of the year were given to students. There were four awards voted by the students and 4 awards chosen by the director. This was a great way to say goodbye to the seniors, and conclude a great year for the WRHS orchestra program.
