On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, students at WRHS in agriculture classes attended an event by the Farm Bureau at the Stormont Vail Event Center.
This event was called ‘From Farm to You’ which teaches second grade students from many different schools in Topeka about agriculture.
Students entered the event and had pizza for lunch, which ties in with the agriculture event. After their lunch period, there were many stations set up, run by high school students, about the steps to making a pizza. These second-graders would rotate through these stations and learn about each ingredient and how it ties into agriculture.
For example, these kids got to learn about how the tomato sauce is made, what goes into the crust, how vegetable toppings are planted and harvested, and more agricultural information.
This event was a great way to promote the high school agricultural programs and classes. This was a great opportunity for younger students to learn about agriculture and hopefully to get interested in the subject for the future.
