On April 16, a low level tornado made its way across Osage county early in the morning. While Shawnee county was also hit, no sirens were sounded. The majority of the damage belongs to the residents of Osage with reports of minor property damage due to the high winds and the tornado itself. The tornado in question was identified as an EF1, the lowest number on the Fujita scale.
Even at such a small number, it is important to stay indoors or underground when possible, with most deaths being caused from flying debris. Make sure to establish a safe zone in your house for everyone to gather in the event of a tornado or severe storm, even if you live in an area that has a low chance of producing a supercell. Another action that could potentially save lives would be to set any electronics to show alerts when severe weather is detected in your area.
