Yesterday, hundreds of students from WRHS took to the outdoors to catch a once in a generation event. The 2024 solar eclipse could be seen all across North America, with Mexico, 15 US states, and certain parts of Canada being the hotspots for tourists all over the world to watch the exciting event. While Topeka, Kansas will not experience a total path of totality, residents will still get to see a partial eclipse with many people deciding to set up camp to watch the extraordinary solar phenomenon. The eclipse began at 12:30 PM on April 8, and ended at 1:45 the same day. During the days prior to the eclipse, local stores sold out of the all important solar eclipse glasses that protect your eyes from the refracted light. Always wear protection when watching a solar eclipse. The next opportunity to watch a total solar eclipse will be on August 12, 2045. Always be safe when gathering outdoors to watch an event.
