On March 3, 2024, German students had the opportunity to participate in KATG Schülerkongress. It is an annual state German competition sponsored by the Kansas Association Teachers of German, and the Department of Slavic, German, and Eurasion Studies of the open language Resoruce Center at KU. The theme for this year was “Wanderlust und die Landschafe der Seele”, which is a celebration of Caspar David Friedrick 250th birthday. Students had the opportunity to win the following prizes:
-Poetry (individual performance by level of German)
-Prose (individual performance by level of German)
-Breakout room (German 1)
-Scavenger Hunt (Levels 2-4)
-Culture Quiz (Levels 2-4)
-Poster (1 entry per school)
-Video (1 entry per school)
-Sticker (Individual submissions)
Students compete for prizes and awards as they interact with native speakers and design poster, videos, and sticker design contests, poetry, prose, and scavenger hunts. The following people from WRHS won something:
