On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the Washburn Rural High School choir program had their first official concert of the second semester.
The tenor bass choir, concert choir, and chorale had their performances at 6 Pm. Treble choir, Ambience, and TG had their performances at 7:30 Pm.
There are many choir groups that had a great concert. Many songs within this program are in other languages, including German and Latin. This is extremely complex for many people and exciting for the audience to listen to.
At 7:30 Pm, the ambience started the concert. This is a group of all girls who harmonize together. The first song they performed was in German and their second song was called “The Poet Sings” by Z. Randall Stroope. Next was the treble chorus, which is another group, similar to ambience, that is all girls. They sang three songs, one of which was in German again.
This concert was very complex language oriented. Finally, This Generation (TG) performed their songs, with an interesting light arrangement. They sang “The Lamb” in the dark with half of the group on the stage, and half on the balcony.
Ben Holcomb, the choir director, congratulated the KMEA state choir participants. This is an incredible achievement and one to be recognized. Lastly, every choir got up on stage to sing a few songs together as a whole.
The choir will be performing next in Los Angeles, California next week. This concert was a great way to prepare them for their exciting trip.
