Red Flag Warning
Today on Thursday the 28, a red flag warning has been issued. Red Flag Warnings alert fire managers on federal lands to conditions that are highly unfavorable for prescribed burns and that may lead to especially dangerous wildfire growth.
Outdoor fires are prohibited across the Topeka area. A combination of strong winds, low humidity, and warm weather on the forecast contribute in extreme fire danger. Any fires will most likely spread rapidly, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas that will be affected will be Shawnee County, Osage County, Pottawatomie County and Douglas County.
Be safe today and stay away from burning fires.
