When going to your favorite local restaurants, there’s one thing no one ever wants to see in their food- roaches.
However, recent Facebook posts have alerted the public about the local Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, showing cockroaches crawling on everything from trash cans to food processing equipment. The restaurant quickly shut down, but many residents of Topeka are left wondering one thing: how thorough are health inspections actually being?
Health inspections in Topeka happen every six months and the inspector can come without warning at any time of the day. Health inspections typically take 20 to 90 minutes depending on the size of the restaurant and are always accompanied by a manager.
However, in this case, even a strict inspection last September wasn’t enough. There were four health violations found according to the inspection records posted online.
The restaurant was issued a warning over the matter. After numerous rounds of inspection, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has received the green light to reopen its doors as of January 29.Fuzzy’s is currently offering a free taco to any customer due to the closing of their restaurant.
