Thursday, February 1st, 2024 was a club day at WRHS. Sources of Strength meets in the library every club day and has fun activities involving everyone.
Their activity for this week was a game involving yarn. Everyone was divided into three big groups and they formed a large circle. Students would pass the ball of yarn around, unwinding it with every throw. While doing this, they each had to introduce themselves to everyone, and express their biggest strength within their mental health. At the end of this activity, there was a spiderweb shape made with yarn in the middle of the circle, expressing that everyone is connected and can bond over something.
Lastly, the club gave everyone a worksheet to do. Students had to list their ‘ins and outs’ of 2024. These are lists describing what they want to keep in their life going into 2024 and habits they want to get rid of.
Sources of Strength is a club welcome to anyone struggling with mental health or wanting to learn how to help people who struggle. Everyone is accepted and included in all the activites, lessons, and events that take place because of this club.
