Everyone knows the success of the Washburn Rural wrestling teams, but there has been one Junior on the boys team who has stood out the most. the 24-1 (112-10 all time) 132 pound reigning State Champion Easton Broxterman just surpassed 100 wins along with winning the rising star of the week for TOP Sports News.
Broxterman feels this team is special as he states, “This years team is in my opinion closer than any other year I’ve been in high school. We all have clear goals we are working for, including winning a state title.”
When asked on how he felt about about reaching 1oo wins he said this, “It was a cool milestone to hit 100 wins, especially this early into my junior season. I’m looking to getting a lot more and potentially finishing high school leading Kansas in all time wins.”
Broxterman is now focused back to back on his state championship run after finishing the teams two hardest tournaments in the season. “My eyes are set on state now… State is The big thing you look too every year and it would be great to win again.”
For the last question I asked Easton what his current favorite wrestler is. Broxterman says, “My favorite wrestler is for sure a college guy name Bryce Andonian who wrestles for Virginia Teach. He’s not really the best, but he always has fun crazy matches and scores points.”
