On Wednesday, December 6th, The Washburn Rural High School faculty formally inducted members into NHS (National Honor Society). This special ceremony was brought together by Ryan Pfiefer, Sarah Thompson, Principal Ed Raines, and the four officers of NHS.
As each new member is inducted, one by one, they officially sign their names into the National Honors Society book of members. After the signing, the members took their candle and lit it, symbolizing NHS’s four principles: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.
In order to be the lucky few to be inducted, students obtaining a 3.85 or above GPA were given the opportunity to apply. The application process included 6 recommendation letters, Information about the candidate, service hours, and a 500 word maximum essay that was over leadership this year.
Congratulations to this year’s new members!
