On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, Washburn Rural High School held a Veterans’ Day assembly after 7th hour. Students followed the older early release schedule to make time for this assembly. The assembly started with the posting of colors and explaining what the meaning of Veterans’ Day is and reading a proclamation from President Biden. There was also a table that was setup with symbolic symbols including hats from each branch of the services. An explanation was read explaining the meaning of each item.
The WRHS Choir and boys choir got the opportunity to sing for this monumental assembly. It was a great way to give WRHS students the opportunity to honor veterans. The band also played a tribute to all the services while each branch got recognized. Taps was also played in honor of deceased veterans. It was a great informational assembly where the whole school could honor veterans.
