For this week’s student spotlight we are going to interview some of our girl golfers. First up we have Peyton Merrick!
- What made you want to join golf?
I joined golf because my older sister played and really enjoyed it, and she pushed me to tryout.
2. Who has been your biggest mentor (does not have to be golf related)? How did this relationship form?
My dad because he has been one of my biggest supporters and always pushes me to do my best.
3. What was your most memorable practice or tournament this year? Why?
My most memorable practice this year was when we had the Washburn cup. I was on the blue team and we won by only a couple points. It was fun to dress up and go all out in our team colors.
4. Would you recommend more girls join the team? Why or why not?
I would recommend girls to play golf. It’s so much fun to go play and be social with all of your teammates every day after school and to make new friends.
5. What is the biggest challenge you have faced this season?
The biggest challenge I faced this season was putting too much pressure on myself. As the season went on, it became more enjoyable and I learned to just have fun.
6. With State coming up, what are you most excited for? What is worrying you?
With state coming up I’m most excited to see how all of the girls do and play. It’s exciting to get to spend full days together doing something you enjoy. I’m sad the season is ending and I won’t play with the seniors anymore.
