On Tuesday, August 29th, the WRHS Choir program had an ice cream social. This was held right after school at 3:15 in the cafeteria. This is a great opportunity for new members of the choir to meet new people and make friends within their classes. It is also a necessary event because it brings everyone together to discuss plans for the year, socialize, and gives the choir director, Ben Holcomb, the opportunity to bond with his students. In an interview, Paige Schinkel talks about the ice cream social importance to her: “I love this event because it’s great for meeting new people and getting to know them. It makes you super comfortable in the class too. We have a very welcoming atmosphere and are almost like a family.” Paige was also asked about her favorite memory from this event in the past: “Our old choir constructor got on a table and started randomly singing. It was super funny and then we all started singing with him.” This event makes a big impact on the choir programs’ relationships with their instructors and each other.
