On Tuesday, August 22, the 2023 Washburn Rural Junior Varsity and Varsity Girls Volleyball team took it on the road to start their season at Blue Valley SW. The Jamboree particularly is a scrimmage against a bunch of teams. It is not counted as a win or a loss in the record books. Washburn goes up against the home team, Blue Valley, and Heritage Christian. The Junior Varsity team went 1-2, Henley Rapp included, “ The team generally struggled but as we worked together, it essentially got better towards the end, which was good for the team. The team has a lot to work on but as the season goes on, we will become better as a team.” The
Varsity Girls went 2-1 in both games and had good competition. Jada Ingram mentioned, “The best part of the game was when Madison Stout got a huge block and we all went crazy for her.” Coach Kevin Bordewick mentions, “I think it was very helpful to see what our team could do. They all had a lot of playing time so the coaches could evaluate them even more and narrow down what our line-up will be like. We just wanted to see our group compete and we were not worried about the actual winning or not.” Washburn Rural’s upcoming game is on Saturday, August 26 against Blue Valley North West Highschool at 9:30. Come support our Lady Blues and wish them luck for their first game of the season!
