On Wednesday, August 23, Washburn Rural High School held an open house for parents! This is a night where parents can go meet their child’s teachers, learn their schedules and what their coursework will be. Student Council members were posted around the school as tour guides. This was held inside the school and parents could come and go at their convenience anytime between 5:30-7:30. This is a great way to learn more information about the school. Parents can walk their kids’ schedules as well and get a feel for how the school is organized. Parent Night is important for not only parents but teachers as well.
Mrs. Nottingham, the orchestra teacher said, “I really like getting to know the parents because it is also a way I can learn more about their children. I love being able to establish better relationships with them and build an orchestra community.” This event is great for freshmen, new students to the school, and anyone wanting to learn more about coursework for specific classes. This event is a great way to kick off the new school year!
