WRHS Girls Basketball wins Sub-State

On Saturday night, March 4, playing against Topeka High, the Junior Blues punched their ticket to this year’s KSHSAA state basketball tournament by defeating the Trojans 45-29. The win followed up their opening round win over Manhattan, 43-30.

In the win over Topeka High the Jr. Blues relied heavily on a strong defensive performance which held the Trojans to just four points in each of the first three quarters. On the offensive side the Junior Blues were lead by seniors Brooklyn Deleye, Chloe Carlgren and MaRyah Lutz who scored 17, 11 and 8 points, respectively.

The Jr. Blues begin their defense of last year’s state championship with their opening round game this Thursday evening at 4 pm. against Lawrence High School. Lawrence enters the tournament as the fourth seed after their win over Wichita South, 78-53. The 6A state tournament will be played at Koch Arena on the Campus of Wichita State University.
