Face masks: What is the effectiveness of them? Well, let’s look at all the different types of masks in this article. According to the Center for Disease Control, also known as the CDC, “cloth masks are not only effective but also block most large droplets and also block exhalation of fine droplets and particles.” The CDC also says that “cloth mask material can also reduce wearers’ exposure to infections, multiple layers of cloth with higher thread counts have demonstrated superior performance compared to single layers of cloth with lower thread count.” The CDC states that wearing a cloth mask is proven more effective to wear than other face masks because cloth masks provide some protection if well designed and used. Also, according to the CDC, “medical masks are also used to prevent the spread of infection from sick or asymptomatic persons.” To conclude this article the CDC has stated that cloth and medical masks are more effective than other masks.
