On Nov. 9, the WRHS vocal, orchestra, and band programs travelled to Eudora, Kansas for district auditions. The choir and orchestra students had their auditions at Eudora Middle School and the band students had their auditions at Eudora High School. Students left Washburn Rural High School at 6:30 on Saturday morning. They participated in auditions with other schools, including Topeka High, Topeka West, Seaman, Shawnee Heights, Lawrence High, Free State and other schools.

25 band students were placed in honor bands, as well as four in the jazz honor band. Four orchestra students were placed in honor orchestra, and they also had one alternate. Eight students were placed in the honor choir.

The students will have practice all day on Dec. 7, and then the concerts will take place for choir at Topeka High, Orchestra at Washburn Rural, and band at Seaman.
